In his own words - Curt Flood (1938 - 1997)

From his obituary in the NYTimes, January 21, 1997,  "Flood never was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. But to Marvin Miller, who served as executive director of the players union during Flood's legal fight, it hardly matters.  ''There is no Hall of Fame for people like Curt,'' Miller said."

Curt Flood was as noble a human being as ever lived. Human history is replete of lessons where one man's fight against the tyranny of those who seek to enslave him. We are, today, engaged in the same struggle from our own government, which seeks to take away our freedom and subject us to their domination.

Side note, one of the unhappy results of free agency in baseball is that game attendance is becoming unaffordable for the average family. In the 70's I used to go to 20-30 games a year. With food and drink, ticket and parking it used to cost $25-$30. Even factoring inflation, that barely covers today's parking.
