Our various “free” behaviors…speech and press and religion, etc…..mean what….to us, we the people?

Is speech free?  How about press?  Free?  Or are we paying for it?  Religion?  Free?

We turned on the TV Sunday – very briefly – we watched for several minutes - first a "news" or "press" show - read below:

·         About 5 or 6 people were sitting facing the host and yapping about something.  We could only tell one thing for certain in the several minutes we watched before an advertisement or several came on – not one of ‘em had a real job making or growing or fixing or inventing something or anything, and they don’t tell us how much they get paid when we buy the advertised stuff that pays them

·         We moved the channel to what we thought was yappers yapping before a football game – but, alas, we were a few minutes early – and we got some preacher guy in a fancy what appeared to be big, new building with lots of people seated in really fancy seats listening to this guy yap on about.…

…so we turned off the television and started to think then write these few words.

We had breakfast with a group of guys last week – and this guy sat next to the oldest of the group – one need be at least 70 years old to get invited – the old guy I sat next to – 86 years old.  Here are a few facts about him – his wife left us all about 18 months ago – he misses her greatly – he also has never had any serious health ailment or issue – which completely separates him from the group – and one more matter – he fought for America in Korea when most of us were in grade or high school.

He brought it up – speaking just to me.  He told me about an event occurring – his buddies were allied with Australians and Turks.  The Turks apparently snitched some fingers from the enemy guys who were killed – and stuck ‘em on their sleeves and whatever.  The 86 year old guy told me he had trouble sleeping at night concerned they might want to snitch one of his fingers.  I smiled – and then he said a few words that communicated this to me – everything – EVERYTHING – now going on in America that stinks to high heaven – me, this 76 year old guy – I am responsible for.

I laughed then – four days later – he’s right.
   .
One more brief occurrence – occurring a month or two ago.  I have a buddy – an attorney guy – I have known him since he got his first job with his law degree after passing the exam – he is 20+ years younger than me.  He was telling me about the various things he does for his local community serving on committees and making decisions and sometimes even getting elected.   I asked him – how much are you getting paid?  He looked a bit taken aback with my question – then held up his hand – and circled the thumb and forefinger – and said the words – I volunteer.  I get paid nothing.

One guy did what he was told to do – he fought for America.  He blames me for the current mess.  The other guy works for government – his local government – gets paid nothing – he didn’t like the presumption of my question.

I am going to tell you about one more man – also a good buddy of mine – who left earlier this year – at the age of 80.  He was a football player – a good one – even played professional ball for a brief period – he also held a real job – always – raised his kids responsibly – paid all his debts – and cared for and about others.   Never spoke about his own accomplishments.

I can tell you more about each of them – but why bother – instead I will simply pose this closing question to you – find me one of the 435/100/9/1 nincomPOOPs who can match ‘em – what do they get paid?  What do they make/grow/fix/heal/invent…?  What about me, you, us – we the “free” people?

Q and A – politicians (q) and one judge (a) – anything missing?

Well this old guy must be honest – he is one of perhaps many who spent a bit too much time perhaps over the last several days getting way too much input resulting in the lengthy title above.  And it’s closing two word question – anything missing?   Here the old guy goes again offering his two cents worth:

·         One group apparently gathered together with one seemingly ongoing repetitive line of motivation – do everything we can to make sure we are running the show and picking the judge candidate and end result next time
·         This group is anchored in mostly brief questions and issues and situations and circumstances that apparently appeal to big fat chunks of their electorate every two or four or six years
·         Best thing they apparently can do is saying/repeating not a word about possible approaching financial bankruptcy or something akin to that chosen world of someone else’s problem offered free of charge to those who somehow or another want/desire/seek/live in/for something free of charge
·         In other words – buy votes
·         We – this old guy – still seeks someone – some teacher or some educator – some historian – some wise older human being – someone somewhere in our wonderful land and country that so many have given all for – to flush the costly ongoing do something for me logic and motivation of this group
·         So, is this why this old guy writes these few words asking the above question…
·         …”anything missing?”
·         NO, it’s not.
·         What is missing from this lengthy repetitive form of mostly old men (yeah, we know, the gals are movin’ on in to the group) doing this and that over and over again?
·         Do you know?
·         Well we do and we offer it HOPEFULLY free of charge.  We did not hear even one of the other group – the group barely hangin’ on to leadin’ us – we the people – in this “freedom” or whatever nonsense of theirs – did not once hear one of ‘em asking the hopeful judge about our responsibility to not only repay the money we borrow but in so doing not – we repeat – NOT stick our kids with…
DEBT
Simple question Mr. Wannabe Judge – is it okay for these ______to stick kids with DEBT?  Is that what you do with your kids?

A Simple Suggestion

We, thefundamentals, once again suggest and encourage reading Mr. John Kass as often as possible for many reasons – each and every one of ‘em best decided by each and every one of us – we the people.

If that doesn’t get it for you – well do a little searchin’ – we think that’ll work.

John McCain (1936 – 2018)

On Oct. 26, 1967, Sen. McCain was on his 23rd mission and his first attack on the enemy capital, Hanoi. He dove his A-4 on a thermal power plant near a lake in the center of the city.
As he released his bombs on the target, a Russian-made missile the size of a telephone pole blew off his right wing. The lieutenant commander pulled his ejection-seat handle and was knocked unconscious by the force as he was hurled from the plane. He came to when he hit the lake, where a mob of Vietnamese had gathered.
With both arms and his right knee broken, he was dragged from the lake, beaten with a rifle butt and stabbed in the foot with a bayonet. Then Sen. McCain was taken to the French-built prison that American POWs had dubbed the "Hanoi Hilton."
So began 5 1/2 years of torture and imprisonment, nearly half of it spent in solitary confinement. During that time, his only means of communicating with other prisoners was by tapping out the alphabet through the walls.
At first, his family was told that he was probably dead. The front page of the New York Times carried a headline: Adm. McCain's Son, Forrestal Survivor, Is Missing in Raid.
The North Vietnamese, however, perceived that there was propaganda value in the prisoner. They called him the "crown prince" and assigned a cellmate to nurse him back to health. As brutal as his treatment was, Sen. McCain later said, prisoners who lacked his celebrity endured worse.
Shortly before his father assumed command of the war in the Pacific in 1968, Sen. McCain was offered early release. He refused because it would have been a violation of the Navy code of conduct, which prohibited him from accepting freedom before those who had been held longer.
"I knew that every prisoner the Vietnamese tried to break, those who had arrived before me and those who would come after me, would be taunted with the story of how an admiral's son had gone home early, a lucky beneficiary of America's class-conscious society," Sen. McCain recalled. "I knew that my release would add to the suffering of men who were already straining to keep faith with their country."
His lowest point came after extensive beatings that broke his left arm again and cracked his ribs. Ultimately, he agreed to sign a vague, stilted confession that said he had committed what his captors called "black crimes."
"I still wince when I recall wondering if my father had heard of my disgrace," Sen. McCain wrote.    "The Vietnamese had broken the prisoner they called the 'Crown Prince,' and I knew they had done it to hurt the man they believed to be a king."
In March 1973, nearly two months after the Paris peace accords were signed, Sen. McCain and the other prisoners were released in four increments, in the order in which they had been captured. He was 36 years old and emaciated.
The effects of his injuries lingered for the rest of his life: Sen. McCain was unable to lift his arms enough to comb his own prematurely gray hair, could only shrug off his suit jacket and walked with a stiff-legged gait.

In his final book, reflecting on his life as it came to an end, McCain wrote: "It's been quite a ride. I've known great passions, seen amazing wonders, fought in a war, and helped make a peace. I made a small place for myself in the story of America and the history of my times."

READ JOHN KASS

Please read John Kass.

For sometime this old guy has made a very simple statement about this wonderful country of ours – we must repay DEBT. No one with even a tiny brain and a few still working brain cells sticks their kids – heck, any kids – with DEBT.

Kass gets it – almost all the rest of our press smelly ones don’t.

Folks America was built by good women and men – many of the men gave all for us – who simply refused to expect others to do something for them. They most certainly did not want government nincompoops doing anything but a few basics – yes, we call the few basics our military men and women and maybe – MAYBE – one or two more.

The bad ones that our politicians now actually seek votes from – well folks both the politicians and the bad ones need to be flushed. No different than what we the people do with our waste each and every morning.

We have no clue if Mr. Kass would agree with the above suggestion – frankly he does one heck of a lot better job of speaking/writing than this old fart does but know this – we the people are self destructing. Quickly self destructing.
