All I Want for Christmas is…
Everybody Pauses and stares at me
Just because I borrow as long as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be…
All I want for Christmas is a long shutdown,
A long shutdown.
Gee a real shutdown.
Gosh if I could only have a
long shutdown,
Then I would know there really is a Santa.
Its seems so long since I could even say,
“Borrowing Ben’s Banking Obanomics,”
Golly gee just how happy we could be
If we could just stop with the histrionics.

Of course, actually shutting down the government would create huge problems. Dealing with problems like adults instead of blaming bureaucracy is far less enjoyable.
At some point, the deficit will need to be discussed honestly. Revenues (taxes) will need to be raised particularly on the higher income levels and corporations including eliminating corporate loopholes. Costs will need to be contained by cutting or eliminating programs.
That is not as much fun as pretending that shutting down the government will do any good.
OBVIOUSLY SOME FOLKS DON'T REALIZE SATIRE, IRONY, OR COMIC INTENT WHEN THEY SEE IT.
ONE CANNOT HELP BUT NOTICE THE PRIORITY TO RAISE TAXES BEFORE CUTTING SPENDING IS MENTIONED. WHY NOT TRY CUTTING SPENDING TO THE BONE AND REDUCING TAXES? THERE IS ONLY A HUNDRED YEARS OF ECONOMIC HISTORY PROVING THAT WHEN TAXES ARE CUT, REVENUES INCREASE.
